Trojan girls close in on UIC title

Lead Summary

Turkey Valley started a stretch of five consecutive road games Friday, the end of which will conclude the regular season for the Trojan girls. They played at Starmont against the 6-9 Stars, winning 54-14.  "At times we played really well, at times it looked like we hadn't played in a week," co-coach Dan Stepan said.  Well, they hadn't played in a week, as their Tuesday schedule was emptied with the snow in the area that night.  The start of the game was all Trojans, as the TV girls had 17 points on the board before the Stars even scored. Starmont hit their first bucket with under a minute left in the first quarter and a 19-2 Turkey Valley first-quarter lead was extended to 33-8 by the half.  The rest of the story may be found in the Jan. 31 Tribune.
