Ruby R. Schluter, 92 of Cresco, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at the Regional Health Services of Howard County.   Private funeral services will be held at a later date.  Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Ruby was born on Oct. 8, 1928 to C. Lee and Dorothy (Crooks) Stansbery in Alton, Illinois.  She grew up near Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School.  She taught country school for one year.  She then married the love of her life, Albert “Al” Schluter on July 17, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  To this union three children (Indians) were born.  Ruby and Al farmed near Nashua until 1969.  They lived in Calmar and Independence before settling in Cresco.  
During her time at home Ruby provided day care in her home.  She loved to garden, bake, sew and quilt.   She made many lap quilts and donated them to the hospital.  Many of her quilts were donated to auction off at Ag Fest.  She also brought home a blue ribbon from the Howard County Fair with one of her quilts.  Ruby was so proud of her quilting accomplishments.   
Ruby is survived by her husband Albert, a son Robert (Ruth) Schluter, two daughters; Connie (Steve) Matt and Janice (Roger) Sommerfield, 7 grandchildren; Christine, Laura, David, Desmond, Tiffany, Chad, and Stephanie, 12 great grandchildren; Jake, Audrey, Kate, Liam, Nora, Dane, Ethin, Bella, Jaxson, Mitchell, Sydney, and Will, and a brother Ray Stansbery. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Roy, a brother-in-law Vernon Schluter, a sister-in-law Margaret Schluter, along with nieces and nephews.
