Paul J. Laures, age 79, of Rockford, Ill. passed away Friday, August 26, 2016, surrounded by his family.He was born March 7, 1937, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Nick and Loretta Meighan Laures.Paul was a 1954 graduate of New Hampton High School. In 1956, he met his wife-to-be, Dorothy Lester, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City where they both worked. They were married August 1, 1959, and moved to Rockford in 1960. Paul was a technical and industrial marketing writer for more than 40 years, and served a variety of clients in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Paul was also active in the Eucharistic Ministry at St. Bernadette Catholic Church.He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, four sons, David (Lil) Laures, Tom (Amy) Laures, Ronald Laures, Joe (Carol) Laures and daughter Mary Blanck; grandchildren, Nicholas, Mei Ling and Fay Ling, Matthew, Allison, Kailei, Jonathan, Ashley and great-grandson Josiah; brother Ray (JoAnn) Laures of DeWitt; four sisters, Bernadeen (Larry) Novack of Robbinsdale, Minn., Agnes (Barry) Pearson, of Willcox, Ariz., Mary Jo Harlan of Minneapolis, Minn., Regina (Ron) Gustas of Denver, Colo. and sister-in-law Janet Laures of Waterloo.He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald and brother-in-law Art Harlan.
