New Hampton host regional duals tonight

Lead Summary

New Hampton may get a shot at revenge tonight at the Class 2A regional duals, thanks to the pairings put out by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.  The top-ranked Chickasaws, who are 25-2 and unbeaten against Class 2A competition this season, will host Osage in a regional semifinal meet on at 6 p.m. today [Tuesday], and the winner will take on the victor in the other semifinal meet between Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Algona.  New Hampton routed Osage 70-9 on Jan. 19 but hasn’t faced the other two teams that will travel to New Hampton tonight.  As for that chance at revenge? Clarion-Goldfield-Dows is the last Class 2A team to knock off New Hampton as the Cowboys scored a 30-27 victory over the Chickasaws in the semifinals of last year’s state dual-meet tournament.  The doors to New Hampton’s gym will open at 5 tonight and admission is $6.
