New Hampton claims volleyball crown at Waukon

Lead Summary

A text really doesn't convey any emotions. But one from New Hampton volleyball coach Jess Geerts Saturday gave a proud message loud and clear.“CHAMPIONS.”While winning the invitational at Waukon, not only did the Chickasaws stay undefeated on the day, but they didn't lose a set while going 6-0 in match play.“It was a great day for Chickasaw volleyball,” began Geerts. “The girls got off to a great start and kept rolling. We did have a few games that were closer then what we wanted, but we got the 'W' and that is what matters.”All of the matches were 2-0 Chickasaw wins, starting with a 21-11, 21-16 victory over MFL in which Ellie Ewert led the team in kills with six, Mya Anderson turned in eight assists and Kaelyn Ambrose had five digs and five aces. For the rest of the story, please see the Sept. 20 Tribune.
