Lady Trojans rally for a split

Lead Summary

Coach Haley Kriener gave the Turkey Valley fans a little bit of the credit for the Lady Trojan nitecap win over South Winn Thursday. After an opening 6-2 loss, the Lady Trojans were tied late in game two before a controversial play took away the go-ahead Trojan run.“After seeing our lead be taken away in the sixth, our crowd really got behind our girls going into the top of the seventh on defense,” said the coach, “so when the girls came back in to hit I asked them 'do you hear your crowd? Give them something to really cheer about' and they did!”Turkey Valley won in the bottom of the seventh, 7-6.In game one, Turkey Valley trailed the Warriors 1-0 until the sixth inning. Twice during the first three innings the TV defensive effort was helped out by throws from catcher Kassidy Reicks to shortstop Shelby Reicks to nab a player trying to steal. And the second time the Reicks to Reicks fling caught South Winn's Ellie Loesch, a state qualifier this spring in the 100-meter dash. The rest of the story may be found in the June 21 Tribune.
