Trojan runners have solid meet for South Winn

Lead Summary

South Winn didn't run at the Charles City cross country meet last year. Because of the heat, no one did, but this year the weather made up for it.“We were fortunate to have an almost perfect night for a meet — that doesn't happen all that often at this time of the year,” said coach Kevin Kearney. “Our kids really took advantage of the night to put up some great performances.”Those included times from eight Turkey Valley runners, who all cut time from their first meet of the season. Instead of a JV/varsity format, the meet ran a freshman-sophomore race for the boys and girls as well as a junior-senior race. One of the biggest cuts came from Jordon Snyder, as the Trojan's time of 18:12 was 2:24 faster than the Edgewood-Colesburg meet, while he was placing sixth among 47 junior and senior boys.“I thought Jordon had a particularly good performance,” said Kearney. “He had a bit of a tough race last week at Ed-Co, but he really came back strong in this one.”The rest of the story may be found in the Sept. 6 Tribune.
