Area teams face stiff playoff tests

Lead Summary

The challenges facing the New Hampton and Turkey Valley teams Friday night are, in a word, daunting.  But neither the Chickasaws nor the Trojans are complaining. They’re both in the playoffs. And they aren’t just happy to be here, either.  “We’ve had a lot energy this week,” New Hampton coach Scott Frerichs said, “and the boys are excited for the opportunity.”  Seventh-ranked New Hampton will open the Class 2A playoffs tonight [Friday] with a road game against top-ranked North Fayette Valley while Turkey Valley, which moved to No. 1 in the latest Associated Press poll, hosts No. 4 Don Bosco in an eight-man opener. Both games kick off at 7 p.m.  The rest of the story may be found in the Oct. 28 Tribune.
