Huskies get first net win

Lead Summary

It wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough to get Nashua-Plainfield its first volleyball victory of the season.     The Huskies, despite some inconsistency at times, swept Rockford 25-23, 26-24, 27-25 to open its Top of Iowa Conference East Division schedule  and improve to 1-1 overall.     “It’s always nice to get the first win,” Nashua-Plainfield coach Amber Carter said, “and look, we know we have to be more consistent, but the girls came up big when they really had to.”     Two nights after New Hampton swept the Huskies, Nashua-Plainfield won its first set of the season and then jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the second set.     But the Warriors rallied and the Huskies had to hang on to take a 2-0 lead in the match.     “We talked about always playing to our level, no matter what the score is,” Carter said. “At the same time, we showed a lot of grit. Those games that go past 25, we have that experience now and know we can play with them.”
