Don’t look now, but here comes one sizzling team into the Class 3A regional tournament.That team would be New Hampton as the Chickasaws swept four games at the Don Bosco Classic this past weekend.After a brutal stretch in which the Chickasaws suffered through an 11-game losing streak, New Hampton has turned its season around, winning eight of its last nine regular season games.“We’re just being so much more patient, for the most part, at the plate,” New Hampton coach Jack Seelhammer said. “We’re waiting for our pitch and just driving it.”The four wins at Bosco gave New Hampton a 16-18 record as they head to West Union on Wednesday to take on North Fayette Valley in a first-round regional game.New Hampton avenged a pair of losses this past weekend as they beat North Fayette Valley 12-2 two days after falling 12-9 to the TigerHawks in eight innings, and hammered Center Point-Urbana, which had beaten the Chickasaws at the Linn-Mar tournament, 10-2.Start with the North Fayette Valley game, in which New Hampton jumped out to a 6-0 first inning lead and never looked back.More on the story may be found in the July 5 Tribune.
