Francis Hotchkiss, age 80, of Salinas, California and formerly of North Washington, passed away at his home in Salinas.
A private graveside service at St. Mary's Cemetery in North Washington will be held at a later date. Conway-Markham Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  For further information, please call 641-394-4331.
He was born on June 27, 1940 in rural Ionia to George and Nettie (Houser) Hotchkiss.  He graduated from St. Mary’s School in North Washington.  When his mother became ill, he lived with his foster parents Sam and Gertie Houser of New Hampton.       
Francis is survived by his sisters Bonita Howland of New Port Richey, Florida, Beverly Chavira of Riverside, California, his brother Richard Hotchkiss of Waterloo and his brother-in-law, Lowell Weber of Marion, his foster family Karen and Denny Shearman of Ionia, Lois and Jack Mahan of Colwell, Diane and Darryl Dietzenbach and Rick and Donna Houser of New Hampton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and foster parents, his brother Brother Andre (Laurence) Hotchkiss SVD; sisters Carol Weber, Marlys Ashley, Rosalie Glaser, sister-in-law Pat Hotchkiss, and brothers-in-law Howard Howland and Floyd McKinney.
