Foundation looking foward to Fly-In Breakfast

Lead Summary

Dan Scott and Jason Lahmann both had the same thought last fall when the two New Hampton Airport Foundation members were at the 2015 Drive-In and Fly-In Breakfast.“I remember thinking, ‘Next year at this time, things could be looking pretty good,’ and by golly, they are,” Scott said. “And next year could be even better.”This year’s fundraiser is set for Saturday, Sept. 10 and will be held on the grounds of the New Hampton Municipal Airport.Unlike years past, foundation members don’t have to fret anymore when it comes to receiving a grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Aviation Division. That grant — worth more than $350,000 — is in hand, and now foundation members are working to make up a $7,000 shortfall in the “local match” to a project that will lead to rehabilitate the airport’s main runway. The Sept. 10 event will help close that gap and will consist of a breakfast served from 7:30 to 11 a.m., numerous planes on display, an appearance by the Mercy Air Med helicopter and a classic car show. For the complete story see the 8/30/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
