Diann Swestka, age 81, of Cresco, died on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at Evans Memorial Home of Cresco. 
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Fr. Jacob Rouse officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Cresco.  A public visitation will be from 4- 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to mass on Wednesday at the church. 
Diann Georgiana Bruening was born Jan. 21, 1940, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in New Hampton, to Edward and Theresa (Nolte) Bruening. She graduated from Calmar High School. On May 26, 1959, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Swestka; to this union three daughters were born. In addition to raising her daughters, Diann worked for Kevin McGuire Attorney Office, Sara Lee in New Hampton, and the County Store in Cresco.  Diann was also a great partner to Larry and helped on the farm with milking and daily chores.  
Throughout her life, Diann enjoyed gardening and was considered to most as a Master Gardener. She spent many hours in her vegetable and flower gardens. When Diann was not out in the garden, she enjoyed making crafts and rosemaling. Diann was a very social person who loved being around people. She loved spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren. They brought joy to her life and she was proud of the people they are growing into.  
Diann is survived by her daughters Debbie (special friend Keith Sanderson) Swestka, of Decorah, Sharon Smith, of Cresco and Lori (Greg) Lukes of Protivin; four grandchildren Derek (Ariana) Smith, of Cresco, Chelsey (Spencer) Schmitt, of Cresco, Jordan and Ryan Lukes, of Protivin; two great grandchildren Ashton and Myla with one on the way; sister-in-law Sharon Bruening, of Monona, and brother-in-law Jerry (Diana) Swestka, of Cresco.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Larry in May 2004 and brother Don Bruening in 2012.
