Camanche to provide stern test in Class 3A regional final

Lead Summary

New Hampton’s been here — a regional final — before, and the Chickasaws believe the experience gained a year ago in a 3-1 loss to Waterloo Columbus can pay dividends Monday night.
“I think we learned a lot from that,” junior Rachel Rinken said, “and I think the big thing is we won’t be as nervous as we were last year. We just have to relax and play our game.”
Rinken, Maddi Moorman, Kerigan Tenge, Lauren Frerichs and Natalie Hoey all saw action in last year’s regional final, so when they take the court Monday night against seventh-ranked Camanche, they’ll be ready for the proverbial big stage.
Camanche comes into Monday’s match with a 28-6 record, and five of those losses have come to ranked teams. Then again, the Chickasaws are 35-5 and only one of their losses is to an unranked squad.
While the Chickasaws have used a balance attack all season, Camanche is led by Madilynn Parson, who ranks second in Class 3A with 4.78 kills per set.
