Alvina Mary was born March 19, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Kuennen) Kriener on the family farm near St. Lucas. She was the oldest child, having three sisters and two brothers. Alvina attended St. Luke’s Catholic School in St. Lucas. After completing her education, Alvina cared for her younger siblings and farm families nearby.  While attending a dance in Lawler, Alvina met the love of her life, Jerome Imoehl.  The couple was united in marriage on September 11, 1945, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas.  Jerome and Alvina welcomed four children, Judy, Russell, Kevin and Juley.  Together they farmed near Protivin and New Hampton until they purchased a farm near Lourdes, finally retiring in 1985.  Alvina and Jerome remained on the farm until they returned to New Hampton in 2000. Alvina was an active member of Holy Family Parish in New Hampton, officer and active member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Rosary Society, Merry Makers Club, Happy Hooker Crochet Club, and Farm Bureau. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Tenderfoots Square Dance Club.  Alvina enjoyed playing cards in various card groups in Elma and New Hampton.  Since July 1992, Jerome and Alvina began the tradition of vacationing with their entire family, which included making doughnuts, crafting, playing unlimited card games, and being honored on the Mother’s Wall at the Mary, Mother of Church Shrine in Laurie, Missouri.  Most of all, Alvina loved spending time with her family.
