Trojans bounce back, roll past Kee

Lead Summary

After a loss to Central City, Turkey Valley couldn’t afford another defeat if they wanted to advance to the state playoffs in a wild card spot.
But when the Trojans traveled to Kee High Friday, they were down several players due to injury, another thing they could not afford.
What’s more, the Trojans trailed Kee High Friday 30-22 going into the final quarter, then Kee scored first in that period for a 38-22 lead.
But the Trojans dug deep and scored 24 straight points, allowing them to keep their playoff hopes alive and leave with a win, 46-38.
“Kee gave us their best effort,” said coach Mark Scott. “We were fortunate to escape with a win. We showed we could overcome adversity and finish the game at the level of play we are capable of.”
The teams went touch-down-for-touchdown in the first half, with Turkey Valley’s Dylan Elsbernd — who finished with over 100 yards rushing — scoring the first TV touchdown on a 5-yard run.
