Despite the ironic twist in the name of the community’s summer event, Nashua residents plan on celebrating “Water Over the Dam Days” as scheduled. This weekend, event planners prepare to “Bring the Tropics to Nashua,” beginning Friday night with activities on Main Street and continuing through Sunday afternoon.
    “Our community suffered together during the terrible flooding. We’ve all worked hard to begin recovering from the recent devastation and move forward,” said Tami Sudol, one of the event organizers for Water Over the Dam Days. “We want to invite others, who may need to get away from the stress of this natural disaster, to Nashua to relax and have some fun.”
    Events for Nashua’s Water Over The Dam Days include a street dance, kiddie parade and queen contest Friday night on Main Street. Most activities will be held in the Boat Park on Saturday, immediately following the parade at 10:30 a.m. Saturday highlights include live bands, firemen’s waterball tournament and fireworks over the lake. The Boat Park has been restored and determined safe for patrons. 
    “We can remember a time, not that long ago, where we were celebrating the return of water to our once-drained Cedar Lake,” said Kim Walk, longtime Nashua resident and event organizer. “It was surreal to see that much flood water hit our community, and all the aftermath it cost our residents. Our community worked so hard together, we want everyone to celebrate the community spirit this weekend.”
