The summer fun continues in Charles City with Party in the Park from 5-9 p.m. Friday, July 11, in Charles City's Central Park.
The event will feature music from Charles City favorite Endless Summer and a showing of motorcycles from sponsor Cedar River Harley Davidson. Local Harley enthusiasts are also invited to show off their bikes at the event. Special motorcycle parking will be provided on Jackson Street.
Floyd tee-ball along with Charles City girls and boys little league teams are also invited for special recognition. Ball players who come dressed in their team shirts will be recognized at 6 p.m. and will receive one free Chuck Chip for an awesome 2008 ball season. Players should meet next to the band shell at 5:45 p.m. to line up and must be present for the recognition to receive their chip.
In addition to live music and food vendors, fun for families will include a variety of carnival-style games for children of all ages. Friends of the Library will sponsor a beach-themed activity tent featuring crafts and games along with balloon animals, face painting and a special beach movie.
Party in the Park events are a function of Charles City Community Revitalization and Main Street Iowa program. Events are held every other Friday during the summer. There is no admission charge.
Food and beverages are available for purchase throughout the evening with Chuck Chips which can be obtained from the "Chuck Chip table" near the center of the park or from volunteers in red aprons stationed throughout the park during the events.
