Memorial Day events set for New Hampton, Fredericksburg, Lawler and surrounding areas.

New Hampton

Parade begins at 10 a.m.
Program 10:20 a.m. at the New Hampton Cemetery

Veterans and parade participants are to assemble for lineup at 9:30 a.m. in the New Hampton Electric parking lot. The Firing Squad and Color Guard Squad will wear blue trousers, white short-sleeve shirts, caps and ties. All veterans are encouraged to participate in the parade. Parade transportation will be available.
Parade Route: Starts at New Hampton Electric, goes west on Spring Street to Walnut, turn south one block to Hamilton, west to Maple, south on Maple to cemetery.

Welcome – Derwin Robinson, CDR, American Legion Post 38
Invocation – Monsignor Carl Schmitt, Holy Family Parish
National Anthem – NHHS Marching Band
Pledge of Allegiance – Entire Assembly
Address – WWII veteran Leo Prebe, two Purple Hears, three Battle Stars, two Bronze Stars and Unit Presidential Awards for serving in Normandy, France and Germany.

Close – Color Guard Takes its colors. Once the Color Guard is in position the band plays a marching tune and the Color Guard marches out.

Services on Memorial Day have been ongoing at Rose Hill Cemetery since the end of World War II.

10:15 a.m. Coffee, rolls, juice served at the Community Center in memory of deceased members of Lawler Post 279
11 a.m. Solemn Services  at the Lawler Veteran's Memorial

Protivin
Holy Trinity

    Meet at the Legion Hall to march at 8:30 a.m. Services will be at 9 a.m. at the Catholic Church with a service at the Bohemian Cemetery following. A pot-luck dinner will follow this at the Protivin Community Center with recognition given to 50- and 60-year auxiliary members. Please bring your own table service.

Fort Atkinson
St. John Nepomucene

    All service and auxiliary personnel are to meet at the fire station at 7 a.m. There will be a Mass at the Catholic Church at 7:30 a.m., followed by a parade and Legion service at 8 a.m. in the town square. Following the program at Veteran's Memorial, Huber/Steffes Unit 672 of the American Legion Auxiliary will be serving kolaches and coffee at the Community Center. All are welcome to attend and honor our veterans.
