The Megans each pitched a game against Waverly-Shell Rock June 24 in a double header. Both allowed four runs, both were tagged for seven hits, neither walked a Go-Hawk batter. Megan Mahoney was credited with a win in game one as the Chickasaws scored six runs, but Megan Frerichs took a loss in game two as the NH girls only produced two runs.
It's not that the bats were hotter in game one, there were four Chickasaw hits in the first contest and three in the second. Maybe more of a timing thing. In the fourth inning of game one three straight walks were issued to Carlie Schnoebelen, Beth Anderson and Darcy Lechtenberg and they all scored, the next inning those same three batters all singled, that led to two more runs. After the walks to the three batters, Jess Schwickerath popped a ball between and behind third and short which both players backpedalled for but both missed. Schwickerath was out on the infield fly rule, but all runners could and did advance. Schnoebelen scored on the infield fly, Taylor Moore, running for Anderson, and Lechtenberg both scored on an error.
The other hit for the game, a single by Anderson in the first, batted in Sheena Hovey, on with a walk.
Mahoney had seven strikeouts total, with four NH errors, only two of her four runs were earned.
None of the runs on Frerichs were earned, as five Chickasaw errors were a factor in the Go-Hawk scoring. Frerichs struck out four; all seven hits she allowed were singles.
The two runs for New Hampton were put on the board in the sixth as Hovey walked and was batted in on a Schnoebelen double, Schnoebelen scoring on a ground out to first by Anderson. Morgan Roths also doubled, in the fifth.
