The Chickasaws weren’t able to get much going until the fifth inning against North Fayette, but once the runs started, they poured in. New Hampton won the varsity softball game on June 23 8-2.
With a run in the second and one in the fourth, the Hawks had a 2-0 lead going into the fifth. In the NH half of that inning, Kelsey Glaser singled, Megan Mahoney took first on an error and another single by Dani Goodwin scored a run. Carlie Schnoebelen took one for the team and a single by Beth Anderson cleared the bases, batting in three. Courtesy runner Taylor Moore scored moments later on a triple by Darcy Lechtenberg and Jess Schwickerath followed with a single, driving in Lechtenberg. Schwickerath took second on a steal, third on a wild pitch and scored on ground out to first.
Goodwin scored in the sixth after a single, an error and a sacrifice by Sheena Hovey.
Both Schnoebelen and Schwickerath were 2 for 3, Goodwin was 2 for 4.
