The Chickasaws suffered a double loss to NEIC teams Waverly-Shell Rock and Charles City, the league-leader. On June 24 the Go-Hawks took a pair, 6-3 and 7-1; June 27 it was the Comets on top, 10-3 and 12-9.
Against W-SR the two teams were tied at three each before the Go-Hawks scored three runs in the seventh. New Hampton’s Taylor Hopp walked in the fourth and his courtesy runner Rhett Wuchter scored on a double by Matt Samec. In the fifth Cole Rausch singled and crossed the plate on a fly ball, Samec walked in the sixth and came in on a sacrifice by Andrew Laures.
For the game, Tanner Weigel was 2 for 4 and Ryan Masters 2 for 3. Cole Rausch pitched seven innings, striking out three with five walks and six hits. There were four NH errors.
In the nitecap Samec was 2 for 3 and scored the only run of the game for the Chickasaws in the second after he singled, stole second and scored on an error.
Blaine Hageman started on the mound, in 2 2/3 innings he allowed six runs on six hits with three walks, striking out two. Blayne Willadsen chucked 4 1/3 innings, allowed two runs on two hits, five walks and had two K’s.
In game one against the Comets Ryan Kramer reached on an error in the fourth and was perched on second when Brad Kamrath blasted his sixth homer of the season. Unfortunately, the CC boys had just marked down eight runs in the third and cruised from there.
Garrett Hogeland was the starting pitcher, in 2 2/3 innings he was tagged for nine runs on 10 hits with one strikeout and no walks. Willadsen came in for the remaining 4 1/3 frames, striking out two while allowing one run on five hits and one walk.
In the game two loss, Dylan Boyd singled twice with two RBI. Rausch, Judd Landers, a courtesy runner for Kamrath, and Karch Landers all scored twice. Going into the seventh inning the Chickasaws were only down by a run, 9-8, in the top half of the inning the Comets scored three and in the bottom half New Hampton added one.
Kamrath went the route on the mound, issuing 11 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
