Turkey Valley’s Braeden Baumler gets free during Turkey Valley’s 52-14 win over Clarksville Friday.

Trojans get back on the winning track

Turkey Valley routs Indians, gives coach his 101st victory

Hearing a pop in your ankle is never a good thing. Especially in the middle of a football game.
As Braeden Baumler sat on the sideline Friday after helping Turkey Valley to a commanding lead over Clarksville, he was really hoping to get a chance to play this Friday on senior night.
"That's the third starter on defense we've lost to injury this season," said coach Mark Scott.
After the 52-14 win, the announcer in the Turkey Valley press box gave the report that noted Scott had reached his 100th career win during the forfeit on homecoming night a couple of weeks ago.
But Scott was busy talking to his counterparts from Clarksville and never heard the announcement.
The coach, who had three of those wins at the former school at Russell, Iowa and the rest at Turkey Valley, never hesitated when asked what his 101st win means to him.
    "It means I'm old."
The coach's 100th win started a little slowly, as Clarksville took the opening drive in for a score. But the Trojans would put 46 straight points on the board before the Indians would score again.
The early Indian attack gained most of the yards on sweep plays.
