Our students and community are ‘worth it’

As a young, newly married member of the New Hampton Community School District, I am voting YES on the upcoming school bond election.  Graduating from the New Hampton Community School District, New Hampton and the surrounding communities have always had a special place in my heart.  Some day, when my husband and I start a family, we want to raise our children in this community and as a Chickasaw!  In order to do this, we have a duty to continue to improve the facilities students go to school in.  Do I like the idea of my taxes increasing?  No, who does?  But if we want to continue to have a vibrant, safe community to raise our families in, we have to vote yes!  And in all honesty, I feel this is a tiny way of us helping our community and students.  On an average $100,000 home, your property tax would increase $83.34 a year.  That is a $6.95 increase each month.  That is small fraction of an increase compared to the large impact a new school facility would bring to our community and the future of our students.  Our students and community are worth it!
