Charles City -

I would like to take this time to thank the many people who worked with the Charles City baseball and softball teams during this season. There were so many that helped us though the loss of our fields during the rains and floods of this season. I would like to thank our opponents for being flexible with playing times and locations.
Several times we were able to change the location to the opposing school, but not always. Coaches, players and fans from opposing schools had to adjust their schedules to times and places that would work to play games.
I would like to thank the umpires for changing their schedules to accommodate our needs. I wish to extend a special thanks to NEIC commissioner Jack Lynch, who worked with us to find replacement officials when the scheduled umpires were unable to reschedule. We had incredibly flexible umpires who sometimes even hopped the bus in Charles City and rode with the team to an alternate location.
A big appreciation and thank you to the AD’s, coaches and ground crews of the schools that let us use their field when that school wasn’t even involved with the game.
Osage, Nashua-Plainfield, Oelwein, Riceville, Rockford, New Hampton and Waverly allowed us to play home games on their fields.  Several of the schools offered to provide us with a practice area if we needed it as well.
I can only hope that someday Charles City can repay the favor.
It is the true spirit of sportsmanship, when your opponents will help you in time of need. Thank you for your support .

Sincerely,
Nancy Heiter
