Responding to articles about the “Family Planning Clinic” and the negative letters about it in the 22 July Tribune.
Most of our modern day, worldwide problems come from the runaway human population increases. We have “climate change/global warming,” air, water, noise and junk pollution, congested traffic, high crime, oppressive and restrictive laws.
One modern person nowadays will do more pollution than 100 people did 150 years ago. How many motor vehicles, tires, spay cans, electricity, gasoline, heating fuel, plastics bags and electronic equipment will one person go through in a lifetime? Most of the above has to be “recycled,” which takes more energy.
Preventing “unwanted pregnancies” is the best way to get a leash on some of the above problems. In some areas of the world, humans have over populated until they’re starving to death, and there isn’t standing room, but then we (the U.S.) are suppose to help them with free food, medical care, money and all kinds of assistance, but we cannot teach them some common sense like “birth control” because “that’s against their religion!” Why doesn’t their God drop manna from heaven to feed them then?
When our U.S. and state lawmakers claim to be “pro-life,” ask them how they voted on those increased speed limits and increased crash and fatality rates on the same select highways. Many of them voted “pro-death” to be in good political standing with the big money/big business places that consider their “time and profits” of greater value than the lives that get snuffed out from it.
They’re clever at knowing how to dump those increased fatality rates on the interstate and expressways in with the “total statewide” or “nationwide” numbers and hide the ugly truth from the public. They’ll only tell you what they want you to know.
Sincerely,
Herman Lenz
