Otilda “Tillie” (Moravetz) Larkin, 99 a longtime resident of New Hampton, passed away Tuesday, June 24, at New Hampton Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph’s Center, New Hampton with Monsignor Carl Schmitt as celebrant.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at St. Joseph Gathering Center on Saturday.
Otilda Larkin was born on August 29, 1908 to Joseph J. and Caroline (Svestka) Moravetz in Protivin, the youngest daughter of seven children. Tillie attended Rudolphinum School then worked as a housekeeper in Cresco until she married Ernest “Bob” Larkin on November 27, 1934.
Bob and Tillie moved to Long Beach, California during World War II where he was a welder in the shipyards and she worked in a wartime factory. They returned to New Hampton in 1946.
Tillie enjoyed her flower gardens, collecting antiques and traveling the United States to visit children and grandchildren in the many places they lived. She was a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Tillie was preceded in death in 2001 by Bob, her husband of 67 years; and son, Dr. Ernie Larkin, in December 2006.
She is survived by her daughter Norma (Ralph) Hartsock of Green Valley, Ariz.; grandchildren Chris (Linda) Hartsock, Susan Hartsock (Greg) Dean, Ward Hartsock, Lynnette Larkin McNully, Lance Larkin and Lisa Larkin (Jeff) Melton; one brother Roman Moravetz of Protivin; seven great-grandchildren; and a very special nephew Linus (Linda) Voves.
