Frederika, Iowa -

Stanley E. Bahlmann, 89, of Frederika, died on Monday, February 22,  at New Hampton Care Center, New Hampton.

Funeral Service were 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 26, Frederika United Methodist Church with Reverend Sheryl Hull as celebrant.  Burial will be at Alcock Cemetery in Bremer County.

Visitation was Thursday, February 25, from 4-7 p.m. at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton. Visitation continued at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. 

Stanley Ernest Bahlmann was born on November 14, 1920 to Herman and Helen (Bergman) Bahlmann on the farm near Frederika, in Bremer County. Stanley attended country school and then worked with his father on the farm.  He was united in marriage to Marian Treloar on June 24, 1941 at Faith Church in Tripoli.  The couple then farmed his father’s farm. In 1945 Stanley entered the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II in Okinawa, Japan.  He was honorably discharged on August 18, 1946.  Stanley purchased a truck and joined his father in the trucking business. Later, Stanley worked at the Concrete Materials rock quarry at Frederika for 15 years before going to work for Chamberlain Manufacturing in Waterloo, where he worked for 18 years before retiring in 1983.

Stanley enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, dancing, and his family.  He was a member of the Frederika United Methodist Church, Sumner American Legion, and Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife Marian of Frederika; seven children Gary (Gayle) Bahlmann of Lansing, Marilyn (Vern) Bockhaus of Ionia, Dennis Bahlmann of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc, Jeffery Bahlmann of New Hampton, Judy Houston of St. Louis, MO, Debbie (Denny) Reding of Dysart, Marty Bahlmann of Cedar Falls; 13 granchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother Virgil (Wilma) Bahlmann of Clermont; five sisters Iola Buchholz of Tripoli, Ruth Rosol of Frederika, Eldora (George) Hagen of Denver, Maxine (Roy) Volker of Frederika, LaDonna (Kenny) Lampe of Waverly; and several nieces and nephews.
