    Marilyn R. Johnson, 70 of New Hampton, died on Tuesday, July 15, at her home.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at St. Joseph’s Center – Holy Family Parish, New Hampton with Father John Barnes celebrating. Pallbearers will be Orla Wiley, Donna Kubesh, Carol Brickley, Betty Jo Snyder, Nancy Demro, Stacy Drumtra and Glennda Murphy.

    Visitation will be 4 - 8: p.m. Friday, July 18, at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

    Marilyn Rose Johnson was born on July 14, 1938 to Joseph and Leona (Hageman) Funke in Festina. Marilyn attended and graduated from St. Francis de Sales school in Ossian in 1956. She then went to Paris Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids. After her graduation, Marilyn worked as a Cosmetologist in Decorah and New Hampton. She was united in marriage to Gerald Johnson on September 5, 1959 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Ossian. The couple farmed and sold Pioneer Hybrid seed for 25 years south-east of New Hampton until they moved to town in 2007.

    Marilyn enjoyed vacationing and visiting her children, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, bird watching, knitting, entertaining, and having coffee with her friends. She was a member of Tuesday Neighbor Time Club, Mercy Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was a 4-H leader. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and an extraordinary home maker.

    Marilyn is survived by her husband Gerald of New Hampton; four daughters Jennifer Johnson of Washington, Ill., Mary (Peter) Hassler of Eden Prairie, Minn., Sarah Johnson of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Suzette (Patrick) Conley of Stevens Point, Wisc.; three grandchildren Joseph, Claire and Liza Hassler; numerous grandpets; three sisters Elaine (Van) Kemp of Gurnee, Ill.; Catherine (Bob) Reilly of Ossian, Audrey “Toots” (Karl) Schroeder of Ossian, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
