Edward A. Dietzenbach, age 87, died June 19, at his home following a long illness. Funeral mass is Monday June 23, 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas with Rev. Marvin Salz. Burial will be at St. Luke's Cemetary.
Visitation was 4 p.m. Sunday at Parish Society and Foresters Rosary with a 7 p.m. Scripture Service at St. Lukes Historical Chapel.
Edward A. Dietzenbach, son of Joseph and Mary (Hackman) Dietzenbach, was born January 31, 1921 on the family farm near St. Lucas, Iowa. He attended grade school in Festina and St. Lucas.
On June 11, 1947, Edward was united in marriage to Louise Croatt at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. They moved to the farm near St. Lucas, where they resided until retiring in St. Lucas in 1991. In life he enjoyed being with friends and family, playing cards, golfing, and most of all working on the farm. He was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters and the St. Luke’s Rosary Society.
Edward’s death occurred on June 19, 2008 at his home following a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Herbert, Hugo, Joseph and Francis; two half-sisters, Theresa Herold and Catherine Nolte; two half-brothers, Nick and John Korzendorfer; two brothers-in-law, Edwin Wurzer and Al Franzen and sister-in-law, Mildred Dietzenbach.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Louise; his children and spouses, Ronald and Linda of Riverside, Calif, Eugene and Dorene of Mt. Pleasant, Jerald and Rose of Calmar, Clair and Sheri of Waucoma and Diane and Jeff Knepper of New Vienna; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Marie Huber of New Hampton; his brother, Urban Dietzenbach of Cresco and numerous niece, nephews and other relatives
