Patrick L. Hoey, dies at 68

    Patrick L. Hoey, 68 of New Hampton, died Tuesday July 15, at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 18,  at Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Center with Msgr. Carl Schmitt celebrating the Mass.  The pall will be placed by his wife Mary and their children.  Lector for the service will be Joe Scally.  Jim Klein, Amy Hoey and Mike Adams will present the offertory gifts. 

    Interment with full military honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Hampton.  Pallbearers are Al Kipp, Ken Kipp, Jerome Hruska, Richard Meier, Wayne Wurzer and Ron Eckenrod. 

    Friends may call 3 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton where there will be a 6 p.m. Scripture Service.  Visitation continues 8 - 10 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. 

    Patrick Leonard Hoey was born July 9, 1940, in Chickasaw County, the son of Leonard and Edna (Shepherd) Hoey.  He attended St. Mary's Grade School in Waucoma and graduated from the Waucoma High School in 1958.  He was inducted into the United States Army on July 24, 1963 and honorably discharged on July 19, 1965. 

    On May 21, 1966, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler, Pat was united in marriage to Mary Kipp.  To this union six children were born.  Pat began working at John Deere in Waterloo in 1965 and retired after 38 years with the company.  He enjoyed collecting John Deere memorabilia and the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

    Pat is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Lori (Jim) Klein of Greenwich, Conn., Shelly Adams (Mike) of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Tim (Cindy) Hoey of Humble, Texas, Scott Hoey, Mark (Amy) Hoey all of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren, Sophia and Jack Klein, Mitch, Ross and Nicole Adams, Alex, Brady and Wesley Hoey; three brothers, Thomas (Mary Anne) Hoey of West Union, William (Kathy) Hoey of New Hampton and James (Elaine) Hoey of Waucoma; two sisters, Regina (Francis) Hoey of Waucoma and Mary Jane (Ronald) Eckenrod of New Hampton; one brother-in-law, Wayne (Diane) Wurzer of Solon.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Todd Hoey on December 14, 1991 and a sister, Sally Wurzer.
