New Hampton, Iowa -

At the last meeting of the New Hampton Community School Board Monday night, several appointments were made for the 2008-09 school year.
Bob Ayers was reappointed board secretary and treasurer. The State Bank of Lawler was reappointed school depository. New Superintendent Steve Nicholson was named Level I investigator for the school, and Chickasaw County Sheriff Marty Larsen will serve as the Level II investigator.
New Hampton Police Chief Mike Anderson was appointed truant officer for students within the city, and Larsen will handle county residents.
Handbooks approved
The board approved three handbooks to be used in 2008-09. The elementary student handbook, the middle school student and teacher handbook and the bus driver and coaches handbook were all accepted by the board.
Locker donation
The board agreed to a request from the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office for donation of some old lockers to be used to house evidence held by the sheriff’s department. The school is in the process of replacing the high school student lockers and have offered the old lockers for sale. Since the school and sheriff’s office are both government entities, the donation can be completed without charge.
IASB resolution
The board chose five items of interest to be submitted to the state legislature through the Iowa Association of School Boards.
Other business
Several routine end of the fiscal year items were considered and approved. The annual treasurers report was read and accepted. The administrator performance review for 2008-09 was discussed and approved.
The 2008-09 alternative school agreement with Sumner-Fredericksburg Community School District was renewed in its previous form.
The board also approved a 403 (B) memorandum of agreement and agreed to participate in the state program.
Aug. 11 was set as the date for the next board meeting.
