The community is invited to Mikkelson Park in New Hampton on Sunday evening, July 27, for Celebration in the Park 2008.
    This totally free event will feature free food (until it's gone) and the music of River. Sponsored jointly by First Baptist, Trinity Lutheran and United Methodist churches, the event will begin with food being served at 5 p.m., with the concert following at around 6 p.m.
    “Bring your lawn chairs and meet in front of the band shell for a positive night filled with music of joy and hope,” said Pastor Rod Ankrom of First Baptist Church.
    River is a nationally known touring group that has released 10 recordings. Since 1997, River has been one of the most played artists on Christian radio stations with 15 singles climbing into the Top 20 on national inspiration charts, including "I Will", "My Love" and "God of Every Generation."
    Kurt Linn, Paul Marino and Phil Reesnes formed River in 1989. Throughout the trio's 18 years of ministry, they have performed at more than 1,300 concerts and events.
