Nashua’s Little Brown Church held its annual Marriage Reunion Sunday, Aug. 3. This was the 56th reunion for the church which was established in 1855.
Registration began at 8:30 a.m. and went until after 1 p.m. Couples came from all around to renew their wedding vows at the ceremony. Prizes were awarded to couples who had the longest marriage, most recent, traveled the farthest and most family members attending.
Lunch was provided by the Local Beef Producers, while music and entertainment was provided by Dan’s Band and Janice Edson and Brenda Mahoney.
Volunteer work was provided from many community members including help from The Main Street Matters organization, a group of business owners and local individuals who help to promote Nashua and surrounding areas.
The reception was led by Pastor Jim Mann. Mann said it was “more of a community event with help from many people.”
The ceremony was not limited to couples only married at the Little Brown Church.
“We really want to celebrate marriage and the importance it has,” Mann said.
About 200 people were present for the ceremony, with many renewing their vows. The Old Bradford Pioneer Village museum also had free admission for the day. They worked in a joint effort with the church for the event.
