The public will soon have the opportunity to view the new New Hampton Fire Department facility.
    The New Hampton Fire Department is planning its open house and grand showing to the public on Sunday, Oct. 4, starting at 12:45 p.m.
    The event will begin with a short flag presentation and ceremony conducted by the American Legion Post 38 and the VFW Post 5238. The department will then be serving food and refreshments from 1-4 p.m.    
    The public is invited to take a tour of the new station and the department’s apparatus. The New Hampton Firefighter’s Association would like to personally invite retired members, donors and their families to the grand showing.
    According to the Fire Department website, site preparation began in the fall of 2007 with removal of the previous building. The New Hampton Fire Department moved into the new facility at 403 S. Linn Ave. in November 2008.
