     Going into the State Trapshooting meet in Cedar Falls Saturday, there was a certain amount of confidence among the New Hampton shooters.

    After shutting out their first two regional opponents, Turkey Valley softball was scheduled for semifinal action last night (Monday) against Central Springs. The Trojans started the tournament with a 7-0 win over Nashua-Plainfield, then blanked South Winn 3-0.

    Two runs in the top of the sixth gave New Hampton a conference win over Oelwein last Tuesday; both teams had 11 hits in the contest but the Chickasaws won 7-5.

    It was a nice way for the Chickasaw seniors to end conference play, as their baseball team swept Waukon in a varsity doubleheader on the road Tuesday, 10-4 and 11-4.

     Only two teams were undefeated in the Northeast Conference as of last Friday, and New Hampton was one of them. Both the Chickasaws and Waverly-Shell Rock were 4-0 in the NEIC and 7-0 overall. That came after a New Hampton double win over Crestwood Thursday night, 6-3 and 6-2.
