Gladys W. Lechtenberg, 93, formerly of New Hampton, IA passed away at The Western Home in Cedar Falls, where she made her home for 20 years.A graveside service for Gladys will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at New Hampton Cemetery in New Hampton.Conway-Markham Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences for Gladys's family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com.  Memorials may be directed to the family.Gladys Wilma Lechtenberg was born July 19, 1925 in New Hampton to John Wilson and Edna (Leichtman) Gray.  She attended country school until the 8th grade.  On May 30, 1944, Gladys married Alfred Lechtenberg at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Hampton, IA.  The couple lived near New Hampton for a time, then moved to Dysart.  Gladys worked for Kullmer’s Hatchery, Pioneer Seed Co. and Amana Appliance for many years.Gladys is survived by her children; Ann (Chuck) Scroggins of New Hampton, Rose Mary Zimmer of Hudson, Iowa, Roger (Suzanne Miller) Lechtenberg of Cedar Falls, Iowa; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred in 1997; daughter, Shirley Geiger; grandson, Daniel Miller; brothers, Ellsworth and Merlyn Gray; sister-in-law, Edna Gray; and son-in-law, Mike Zimmer.Gladys made many dear friends while she was at the Western Home.  In her younger years she loved fishing, and watching drag racing.  She was an excellent cook and made the best turkey and dressing ever!  Gladys will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
