A summer concert featuring the University of Northern Iowa New Horizons Band will be held Sunday, July 20, at the Mikkelson Park band shell in New Hampton. The performance will begin at 7 p.m.
    The UNI New Horizons Band formed at the University of Northern Iowa in 1999 and has grown since to its current size of 70 pieces. The band entertains with a wide variety of music from marches to blues to broadway hits.
    Refreshments will be available at the park, but it is requested that concert listeners bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the New Hampton Middle School Auditorium.
    The event is being sponsored by the Carnegie Cultural Center and “Don’t Quit Your Day Job” big band.
